I think I’ve been clear over this whole bullshit crisis that the numbers are crap. I think there are lots of people that have died that have been counted as died from coronavirus should have more accurately counted as died with coronavirus. Since I feel that way already, this one made me laugh out loud:
It tickled me because I’ve long thought Shepard Smith’s typical delivery was over the top. Plus there is the whole Florida man thing.

I’m not sure if I’ll take the laptop. Posting to the blog from the phone might be a little tough. Mostly ’cause I’m old.
We celebrated Mother’s Day this evening. I made some filet with a shrimp garlic sauce, asparagus, and salad. It was delicious.

Worked on the pool. Fixed a nice dinner for 8. (Yes we probably violated some Karen rule.)

Spent the day chasing a leak on the suction side of the pool plumbing. Found the leak. Have the material to fix. We are taking this opportunity where we were forced to drain the pool to fix the leak to do some other cosmetic repairs. The work will be done within a couple of days and the pool will be refilled by next weekend.
Made some shrimp and grits for dinner.
Watching a movie now.
A good day. I would still like to see my barroom friends. Can’t wait for this shit to lift.

My joke/teasing thing has been talking to my wife about how a part time husband would be preferable to most women, her included. They get the guy to come by once a month to fix some stuff, play ball with the kids, have dinner. Maybe a roll in the hay and then he leaves. Of course this part time husband would be making the rounds to four or five women. The difference between my joke and the Mormons is that the women would be the drivers of the relationship.
But it seems that a version of my joke is coming true:
Johns, 58, is a polyamorist. She follows a non-monogamous lifestyle in which multiple partners give each other consent to date and have sex with others. Johns’s longest polyamorous relationship has lasted 36 years, twice as long as her former marriage to a polyamorous man. She talks openly about her partners to her preschool students and others.
She talks to her preschool students about her lifestyle. Bless her heart.

So… again… made good progress on the fermentorium.
One of my nieces thinks June 1st is the day life returns to normal.
I have to see about how to start a betting pool for the opening day of Mitch’s.
And… I want to see when the Daily Double starts going out again.
We have a house reserved that looks out over Shelter Island for a week this summer. Right about when the yellowtail fishing should be good.

I am working on the fermentorium. I am making slow but stead progress.
I am irritated that some people continue to enjoy this lockdown too much. They get their rocks off on controlling other people. They need to be put in their place.

In this Steve Sailer post, commenter NOTA says:
At this point, there is no plausible way for either party to argue that they oppose this stuff. The democrats could pretend to oppose it before Obama got into office, but he owns these programs now. The republicans could have claimed to oppose it if not for their full-throated defense of every police state measure Bush did and most of the ones Obama has done, too. That means the political press, which is basically the PR wing of the two parties, have little incentive to push on this issue. Popular unhappiness with it will be marginalized in the prestige media, just like opposition to the Iraq war and the bank bailouts was. Expect to see a lot of sneering about the silly rednecks wearing tinfoil hats, America-hating peaceniks who don’t want to keep us safe, etc. The smearing of Tea Party and Occupy protesters wasn’t the least bit subtle, I cant imagine this will be either. Ownership of the megaphones means you don’t have to be very subtle.
Those are my sentiments exactly. Nothing is going to change in this one party system of government we have. And for those of you that don’t think we live under a one party system, I would like to point you to this piece by Angelo Codevilla. I don’t agree with Codevilla on all of the particulars, but he certainly hits all the high points.

The kids are screwed.
The fiscal gap — the present value difference over the infinite horizon — between all projected spending, including servicing official debt, and all projected taxes, is the label-free measure dictated by economic science of the unpaid bills being left to today’s and tomorrow’s children. It’s $222 trillion, based on the Congressional Budget Office’s latest projections. This true measure of our children’s fiscal abyss, which, by the way, grew $11 trillion over the last year, is almost 20 times the size of official debt held by the public!
Those of us in our 50’s might be screwed too. I don’t quite have a strategy figured out on how to deal with this problem.

Is Obama waging psychological warfare on Americans?.
For all of the current scandals facing the Obama administration, I’m going to give you the reason behind them all: It is the government doing what the government does.
Since we have a democrat administration, the government has a slightly higher tendency to screw with the populace than if it were a republican administration. Just a very slight tendency.
